Green MSP Wins “One to Watch” Award
Ross Greer, Green MSP for the West of Scotland and Scotland’s youngest ever MSP was awarded the “one to watch” award at this year’s Herald Scottish Politician of the Year Awards. The award, announced at a ceremony in Edinburgh and voted for by a panel of experts from across various media organisations, recognises an up and coming politician each year. Ross came ahead of competition from Scottish Conservative MSPs Liam Kerr and Michelle Ballantyne. Previous years winners have included Greens’ co-leader Patrick Harvie, Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf and former Labour leader Kezia Dugdale.
Ross has been a Scottish Green MSP for the West of Scotland since 2016, when he was elected at the age of 21, making him the youngest ever MSP in the 20 year history of the Scottish Parliament.

“It was great to be recognised at this year’s awards. I’ve had the huge privilege of doing this job alongside so many fantastic community campaigners, from Friends of the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire to Save Loch Lomond at Balloch to rail campaigners in Milngavie. Over the last three years I feel we’ve made a real impact – and I’m sure Piers Morgan having a full-blown tantrum at me on live TV earlier this year didn’t hurt either!”
